Real Wedding // Re Commitment Ceremony

Congrats to Matt and Lisa on their beautiful re-commitment ceremony and reception!

From Lisa: We had a lovely vow renewal/step-parent adoption service, with our dinner/dance reception being outdoors.  We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day! My husband got to work with building a temporary dance floor outside while I gathered mason jars, burlap, silver candelabras, and lace to fancy it up a bit.

We had the pleasure of having Chris Saub entertain at our ceremony and dinner reception. If there was ever a glitch in a day such as this (which there were a few), I can tell you that music can definitely be your band aid.  It just makes everything better, I say!  Chris was set up and already setting the mood well before guests arrived in a 3 by 5 ft area in the backyard.  By the end of the dinner, everyone bottled up the feel good vibes permeating from his spot under the tree house; rubbed their bellies full from a satisfying meal, and shared a story or two among friends. The day matched his music; cool, serene, and enchanting.

The candy bar was a success as there were plenty of little hands ready for the go ahead from mom and dad!  I put up an old weathered hutch decorated with burlap and moss, and strung pictures of the family up on burlap twine.  Sweet!

I LOVED our personalized bottles of Jones Soda!  We chose root beer and fufu berry.  A picture of Matt and myself are personalized on the bottle with a thank you note personalized also on the back.  This is a great party favor that includes yet another small detail about your story:)

The tables were dressed with white hemstitched linen tablecloths with burlap runners.  Some tables had moss runners.  I asssembled old tattered books and candelabras everywhere.  The head tables were a collection of mixed vintage chairs.  I had dessert stands of every shape.

I placed my programs in an old wood crate in keeping with my rustic theme. Holly from Avant Garden Floral and Design Studio provided me with this personalized moss “embroidered” aisle runner.

I love old suitcases. I have lots.  They are so mysterious, and I love to imagine all the nostalgic places and hands they have come across.  I used this one to place cards in.  I also stuck some whimsical pieces in such as a pinwheel, my schedule of events card, a packet of seeds for us to plant in remembrance of the day, and some more flowers from Holly.

It was such a beautiful night, and I am so happy that we took the extra time to incorporate our own little details.  We made yet another memory to tuck away, and use again and again to evoke a hundred more smiles and conversations in the many years that are ahead of us.
