Theatrical Media Services has been lighting weddings around Omaha for the past four and a half years, so we sat down with wedding division head Patrick Bressman for the lowdown on the lights. They will help to shine the spotlight on you for your perfect day. You will glow with the light they shed upon your true love. The real questions is, can you ever have too many light puns?
WE: Dave Mathews, Paul Simon…and Omaha brides?!
PB: Theatrical Media Services is a nationally known concert lighting company with clients such as Dave Mathews, Paul Simon, Lori Line, and many more– most people don’t realize how big we are! We have a wedding division that has been here for about the last four and a half years in Omaha. Every rental hall or space has a limited amount of natural ambiance, so we come in and paint with lighting to give the room a completely new feel.
LED lighting has made this possible, essentially. Where lighting used to require a generator and a lot of hot, hot light, now I can bring in a light and not use a whole lot of energy and it simply does not get hot. So in the last four years, we have done over 300 weddings and have another fifty booked for the upcoming year.
WE: What are the lighting trends you have been seeing recently?
PB: The trend right now is definitely bold, vibrant color. It tends to be seasonally driven; right now we are working on a winter wedding that wants the room to be an icy blue. Another trend is the custom monogram that can either be shown on the dance floor or projected onto the wall behind the bridal party table.
WE: What is one of the more memorable weddings you have lit recently?
PB: We worked on a two day Indian reception for an Indian bride and her American husband that was actually featured in Wedding Essentials! We used over 150 lighting fixtures for this reception including some concert lighting and other high-end equipment– everyone walked out just blown away.
EDIT: (See more from this wedding in our mini magazine here.)
WE: Do you foresee growing business in Omaha in the future?
PB: If people have been to a wedding that has been lit, they understand. People that have been to a friend’s wedding inevitably understand how much of a difference it makes and use it for theirs! If I have lit one friend’s wedding, I will light the whole group.
Stop by the Theatrical Media Services booth at the Wedding Essentials Idea Show on October 21 to learn more and meet Pat! TMS offers a complimentary consultation at the venue, so will drive to wherever your location is to work with you on your lighting needs.
