Well, I’m thinking about you and I hope you’re doing ok. I miss seeing you. What cheers me up is when I call you and you’re like, “Hey! Oh my gosh I was wondering when you were going to call!” You’re the only person that gets excited when we talk.

Only a special woman deserves the love of a Marine and it take a special woman to make a Marine feel good when times are bad. Thank you for that. The whole picture of peace and relaxation with you is overwhelming. Just the thought of being able to let your guard down for a moment is bittersweet on the tip of my tongue. It’s weird how a letter can mean so much. When you think about it, it’s just another form of communication. But really, it’s moved our relationship so far. I think it’s romantic now that this letter will probably be saved with all the others.

Although it is a lot to live up to, I am so excited to be your FIRST Valentine. More importantly, I am excited to be your best friend. I was looking through some pictures the other day and then I noticed something that gave me a really warm feeling and it made me smile. On my right wrist I was wearing a bracelet — but it wasn’t your ordinary bracelet. It was a black hair tie. Right then I knew what it was and what it meant. I used to steal your hair ties, except for the days that you worked. I wore them on my wrist all the time. Plus, if I ever felt lonely it always had your scent, so it kept you in my thoughts.

So keep me in your thoughts knowing full well that you are in mine too.

I once told you that when I get back from war, I wouldn’t want to talk about it. Well, you’re the only person I’ve talked to about it and I know you respect that. I guess I think that no matter what happens you won’t judge me.

For Christmas I wanted to give you something that you really, really wanted. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been asking you non-stop what you wanted for Christmas. Every single time I’ve asked, you’ve given me the same answer: “All I want is you.” This Christmas I’ve decided to give you just that. So here I am! I hope you like me. I’m pretty low maintenance, all I need is internet access and a pizza every once in awhile. I even come with a lifetime guarantee, let’s just call it a promise.

I promise to love you forever, for as long as I live, and even longer than that. I promise to be there for you no matter what happens, even if Godzilla comes and attacks our house. I promise to protect you from all that might hurt you. I promise to make your life superamazinglyawesome, to give you everything you could ever want. I promise to make you happy, no matter what situation we somehow get ourselves into, like being attacked by giant wasps or if one of our children happened to find a way to make himself permanently invisible by making a deal with an evil wizard, to give a few examples. To sum it all up, I promise to love you and be with you forever.

This is the first I’ve really written in awhile. This letter is so random because I have so many thoughts going through my head and my hand can’t keep up. That’s what usually happens when I think about you. My head fills up with awesome thoughts.

You’re my girl. I can be in a world of stress and somehow when you mention you’re up all night thinking about me I get all warm inside and it comforts me. Every one of my friends asks about you and I just say, “Hey, she’s perfect. She’s my girl.”
