There’s nothing like a jaw-dropping laser-cut invitation to attract and hold your guests’ attention. Precision designs with contrasting punches of color and letterpress scrollwork are popular in today’s stationery suites. Order form a stationery book, or work with an invitation designer who does custom work. If you can dream it, somebody can make it.
Leather envelopes with a touch of gold aren’t the type of invitations to be tossed out, but kept and talked about for years.

Something old is new again at the Scoular Ballroom. Last year, the ballroom underwent a freshening. This year, the historic venue is unveiling his and hers bridal suites. The grand reveal will be at an open house celebration on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Plan on tasting great food, enjoying a cocktail (or two), checking out bridal hair and makeup styles and taking in beautiful sounds by local musicians if you go.
Theresa Farrage, event coordinator, says 30 percent to 40 percent of couples she meets want space for ceremony and reception in the same room. “We can do a room flip very easily,” Farrage says. Use the atrium space for a cocktail reception, then bring your guests into the grand ballroom for the ceremony and reception. Guests can even sit at round tables while you exchange your vows on the stage. Add drama to the setting with programmable lights. Plus, the Scoular has added a buffet room for 60-65 guests – perfect for a catered rehearsal dinner or shower.
The bridal suites each feature vanities with lighted mirrors, and three-way mirrors.
The grand ballroom can accommodate 325 guests for a sit-down meal. The open floor plan can easily accommodate food stations, which are great for getting guests to circulate and mingle.
